How to get there
Faro Airport is half an hours drive along the N125. Car hire available with pick-up from the Airport (we’ve negotiated a good rate from a local provider and they will be pleased to meet you at the airport – saves queuing for the on-airport main providers). Train station at Boliqueme (4.5kms).
Nearest main resorts
Our apartments are ideally situated between Olhos de Agua and Vilamoura … with Albufeira a little further afield (approx. 9kms). The Vilamoura area boasts quiet pine forests, Atlantic beaches, a casino, a shooting club, a riding school and choice of nightclubs – plus the Polvo Watersports Algarve water park. For historians there’s a preserved Roman site and the Museum of Cerro da Vila.
Portugals’ only motorway is reachable in 10 mins – opening up access to the entire Algarve – including the beautiful beaches at Luz, Western Algarve – and the ancient maritime town of Lagos, situated within 16th– century city walls, enclosing the old town’s pretty, cobbled streets and picturesque plazas and churches. Many naval excursions were launched from Lagos during Portugal’s extraordinary Age of Discoveries.
Local eateries and shops (incl. supermarket, pharmacy, bank and car/cycle hire) are within walking distance or a very short drive; there’s several highly recommended and affordable restaurants (including our favourite Italian: Sole Mio) – plus, a wonderful fish restaurant (Rotiro do Isca) close by. For the shopaholic – Shopping Algarve is a 20 minute drive (and ‘Forum’ at Faro is good too) and there are many local outdoor markets. Don’t miss Loule – a lovely Portuguese town with the annual Noite Branca (Festival of White Night) providing traditional festival pageantry, marking the end of summer.
